Creating change through citizen's initiative

The Loveland Library can be restored through a grassroots effort to create an independent library district. To begin, we will petition and create a ballot measure aimed at how to restore the Loveland Library. Next, we will gather supporters and educate our friends and neighbors about the Loveland Public Library, including its hours and services. Finally, we will vote to ensure we can restore your library for the community.

Our efforts will lead to the restoration and enhancement of library services that Loveland residents deserve.

What can we accomplish?

Restored library hours

As a library district, the necessary resources would be available to restore library hours beyond the few hours the library is currently open.

Restored participation in Prospector

Prospector, the interlibrary loan service, was lost in the previous years budget cuts.

Restored access to newspapers, magazines, and databases

Currently, there are very few newspapers and magazines available and minimal access to online research databases.

Restored access to streaming and digital content

Digital streaming and content services have not been available for over a year. A restored library would increase availability of e-Books, e-Audiobooks, and streaming content.

Restored staffing

A loss of many staff positions due to the recent budget cuts were cited as a primary reason for reduced hours. This includes restoration of the library director position, which is crucial for maintaining and upholding library values.

Restored technology

Technology like laptops and hotspots were a popular commodity and are no longer available.

Restored programming and storytimes

Popular programs have been reduced in recent years.

Why a district?

Creating a library district for Loveland isn't just about extending Loveland library hours, acquiring more books, or enhancing services; it's about restoring the Loveland public library as an essential community resource that supports families, seniors, students, workers, and lifelong learners.

Why now?

Creating a library district now ensures that the Loveland Library has the local leadership, stable funding, and long-term vision needed to protect freedom of information, safeguard privacy, and expand opportunities for every resident of our growing community. Restoring the library now keeps Loveland strong for future generations.
